BLOG TOUR + REVIEW: ADAM'S APPLE BY LIV MORRIS

Adam Kingsley reigns as the young prince of Manhattan.  Everything he touches turns to gold making him the envy of Wall Street. Women swoon at his feet, money falls out of his pockets, and his killer good looks are as wicked as sin. A dangerous trifecta.

What more could a thirty-two year old man wish for? Maybe that his life never changes and his past stays far away? Sounds reasonable but life seldom is.

Kathryn Delcour is a beautiful and alluring socialite with unique erotic tastes. When she suddenly appears on the New York City social scene, Adam finds her too tempting to resist.  He has to have her, but she is warned to stay away from him and his player ways. She tries her hardest to keep him at arm's length however Kathryn's arms may not be strong enough to hold Adam at bay.
Hidden secrets, Kathryn's passion for an ancient sexual practice, and a former business partner wanting to inflict a deadly revenge set the scene for a wild ride as Adam tells the story in his own words.

Here's a little taste from Adam's Apple:

Neither one of us utters a single word. My surrender to her witty entrapment of me still hangs in the air. I’m an MIT genius for fuck’s sake, but she’s been winning all the arguments with me. Hands down kicking my ass. Who would’ve thought my mental match would be a sexy-as-hell vixen wearing red lipstick and Shalimar? Both of which are driving me crazy right now.
I’m not sure she has any idea what she has won, as I willingly gave into her. And truthfully I’m not sure, either. We are stilling holding hands with the promise of nothing more. Normally in this situation, I’d be looking for the next willing woman. Holding hands was great in middle school, but I have needs that want to be addressed. Yet here I sit with her. Hand in hand like we’re at a church picnic.

OUR REVIEW:

The beginning of this book had me sufficiently intrigued as did the ending...both left me wanting to know more which is what I hope we will get when the second installment of this series releases. Ditto, sister.

Adam is this high powered, egotistical, manwhore who finally meets his match in Kathryn. She's beautiful, mysterious, and not falling for his charming ways. Sounds like the beginning of many a contemporary romance novel, right? Well in many ways it probably is. This novel, however, throws in a few kinks--Adam's ex-business partner is so pissed off at him he literally wants to kill him, Kathryn has an usual job as a Tantra instructor that puts her in the path of many eager and handsome male clients, and then there is the fact that they both have histories that we haven't yet been privy to. There are still many questions that are left to be answered as we get to the close of this book. Answers I hope will be provided in book 2.

I too wanted to read this novel for the obvious story between the two MC's and how her interesting practices were going to literally throw a kink in things...but I think we got a lot more with each of their back stories and the whole business partner is a psycho direction that things went to. I did have to ask if they were both kind of mean the entire book, because the beginning didn't really make them endearing likeable people....and I got the standard "hhhmmmm" response from Shelley...which means that things will probably go the way of my thinking but she isn't going to tell me squat!

I enjoyed the first third and the last third of this book. While Adam was obnoxiously full of himself (as was Kathryn), there was something about his story (and hers) that kept me turning pages to find out more. I also enjoyed the story being told from his point of view, and only his point of view; that is something I've come across very often. I think where I was less enchanted was in the middle third when he was so very consumed with Kathryn. He was obsessed and for pages it seemed like that's all he focused on. I'm sure this was just to emphasize how unusual it was for him to feel so enamored by a woman, but I wanted to know more...to see what was going to happen next, to get more information...so I had very little patience in my eagerness to move forward.

I also love books completely from the male POV..so I was pleasantly surprised to discover this once I settled into reading it. The pace was a touch slow for me in the middle as well, but I think Kathryn's reactions to Adam is somewhat what made me wish for something else to happen. Let me elaborate...she was very in his face about his previous exploits with women...almost to the point where I wanted to smack her. She was okay with it one minute, but the next thing out of his mouth would make her be mean again...and have him walking on eggshells with trying not to say the wrong thing to her. She worked it out eventually and became so much more likeable...so I was glad!

As I mentioned before, the ending leaves us with many questions left unanswered and I'm curious to see where Liv Morris takes her characters next.

Me too! The slow burn for them was almost insane...but gratifying by the end...so I can't wait to find out what happens next...even though it was sort of a pretty intense way to leave the book. It was still complete for me in a way that I'm not in agony right now over it! Which is good.

Shelley: 3 1/2 Stars

Courtney: 3 Stars
