Book Description:

Determined to overcome a dark and tragic past, college student Everly Wallace is only months away from earning her degree in physical therapy. She’s consumed with school, caring for her ailing grandfather, and figuring out how to pay the next bill. The last thing she wants is a relationship, but it just might be the one thing she needs.

Major League pitcher Cole Parker hasn’t fought for anything in his life. He went from a privileged upbringing to a multimillion dollar All-Star career. But when his pitching shoulder starts to give him trouble at only twenty-four years old, he faces the possibility of his injury becoming public knowledge and costing him everything.

In a desperate bid to save his career, Cole decides to hire someone to treat his injury, someone who will keep things off the record and out of the media. He finds the perfect solution in Everly. As mysterious as she is beautiful, she provides an enticing distraction from his pain. Soon, physical therapy is the last thing on his mind.

When an act of betrayal brings the truths they both fear to light, Cole will have to fight for the first time in his life…not just for his career, but for Everly’s love.

Favorite quotes from For Everly
Quote 1: I like this exchange because it happens shortly after the main characters meet, and it’s representative of the types of conversations they have throughout the book.
Cole took a sip of water and nearly jumped when Everly appeared at his elbow with his cocktail and a basket of bread. “You’re like a ninja,” he told her.

One of her red eyebrows curved up. He was pretty sure he saw humor in her gaze. “I get that a lot,” she said.

Quote 2: Wyatt is Cole’s older brother, and one of my readers’ favorite secondary characters in the story. He tells it like it is, just as this quote indicates.

“Cole, I’ve reviewed the scans we took when you were in the hospital. You should have started treatment weeks ago to get ready for the season. If you feel like I’m forcing you into this decision, well, that’s probably because I am. You’ve got three choices: don’t do anything and deal with the pain, go public about the injury and seek the services of a specialist…or Everly.”

Quote 3: This exchange between Cole and Everly is one of my favorites because it conveys a lot about Everly in a few words. Plus, she’s a lot like me in this respect!

Taking the cane from her, he said, “You have no idea what it does to me when you use words like ‘stabilization.’ So doctorly.”

She snorted and shook her head. “‘Doctorly’ isn’t a word. It hurt my tongue a little just saying it.”

Quote 4: Similar to the exchange above, this one shows Cole’s personality. This is also similar to an argument I actually had with my husband, so it’s art imitating life.

“If my driveway is covered in ice, then so are the roads of Atlanta. Just because you have all-weather tires doesn’t mean the other drivers on the road do. Ergo, you’ll be staying here tonight.”

Her eyes widened. “Cole, I can’t—”

“Uh-uh.” He took her arm and pulled her away from the door. “I said ‘ergo.’ That means I win this argument.”
