Book Description:
I know what you did last summer.

Aubree Walker, the perfect girl most likely to succeed, is sure there’s only one person who knows what she did.

Booker Outlaw, one of the three Outlaw brothers—all identical, all gorgeous, all from the wrong side of the tracks, and all pure bad boys. He was always the unpredictable one, the one who would be brash enough to make it big self-publishing horror novels on the internet. He promised never to tell, but everyone knows you can never trust an Outlaw.

Then a year later, in the middle of the night, she receives a phone call at Tulane. Her aunt, who took her in after her mother’s death, is in a coma under suspicious circumstances. Now she has to face that one person who knows all about what she did that summer—sexy Booker.

Returning to Hope Parish to be with her aunt, stirs up all those ugly memories. When Aubree starts getting threats, she can’t help but wonder if what she did last summer was tied to her aunt’s “accident.” Afraid, she turns to the only person who knows the truth and Booker doesn’t hesitate to offer his broad shoulder for her to lean on. But Booker has a secret of his own that could crush their fledgling relationship.

As the hot, sultry summer days move on, she finds that even a perfectly smart girl can lose her heart to a perfectly bad boy. What is she going to do when someone starts asking questions Aubree doesn’t want to answer? She’s knee deep into a terribly dangerous, wholly life changing, who-can-she-really-depend-on perfect mess.

Our Review:
I am always interested in books that feature my home state so when this one came to our attention, I was eager to see what it was all about. There are so many things this book got right--our humid, hot, lush landscape, our tendency to use pet names for each other, and especially the small town gossip that pervades the small towns I've lived in.

While I'm not all that far north of Louisiana, I very much enjoy the culture when I hear about it. From friends to the family I have there, it has always been a special place. I thought it was nice that the small town feel was a cool departure from the normal setting that is usually New Orleans.

From the beginning Aubree is intent on avoiding her home town and for 80% of the text alludes to a horrible event that keeps her away. When she gets a call about her aunt (and mother figure) has been in a serious accident, she drops everything and runs home. The ride home is flush with memories and worries and gives us a good sense of her desire to quickly take care of business and get back to college. Booker Outlaw, her high school crush, would like nothing more than for Aubree to stay longer.Upon arrival at her aunt's house, Aubree not only has a worrying incident happen before she can even get out of the car, but Booker is there...and so is their chemistry.

Oh, oh, oh Booker. I really liked him a lot. He was a pretty great guy who struggles to overcome the reputation that his no good con artist father left his family with. He really has a hard time believing that he deserves anything and his mutual feelings for Aubree are known to everyone it seems but her! I needed her to wise up to what was right in front of her, quick fast & in a hurry!

For the next few days Aubree and Booker become reacquainted with each other, try mightily to deny their feelings, and try to figure out who is sending her harassing texts. We also get to meet Aubree's 2 high school besties and Booker's brothers---I'm sensing books 2 and 3 here.

Dude, you forgot to mention that these boys are TRIPLETS! Booker, Braxton, and Boone (Hello, Lost anyone?!?) So yes, they are triplets who all have their special talents whether it be Book's writing, Brax's cooking and Boone's landscaping...they're pretty much the ultimate package...and way, way better than their small town reputation would suggest. My only flaw would be that I wish they were a little bit older. Not that 19 year olds can't accomplish these things and it is probably being a bit cynical of me...I don't know...just the things they have figured out I know some of my high school friends still don't have figured out so maybe that's the reason!

Once Aubree and Booker begin to sort through their attraction to each other, they must confront some of the secrets that could end them before they even begin. The last 15-20 % move quickly and with resolution...no cliffhanger here!

Yep, the book had a definite slow burn feel to it, with sizzle and interruptions! Killer. But they are very, very sweet and I enjoyed it very much!

A sweet Louisiana read.
